This has been a blistering summer with the highest temperatures I can remember. Early in the year, we moved our decades old garden to a new location in "greener" Oklahoma, about two hours to the East. Ample Spring rainfall made the transition favorable for the garden to begin to establish in our new location. There was just so much to do, the last of our many daylilies did not touch their toes to our new sandy loam soil until well into May. The extreme heat of the 2011 Summer which hit just as peak bloom arrived, has really stressed the daylilies after the move. Well into August we received the first drought breaking rain. Alas, the 100+ temperatures have not abated. The 2011 first flower seedling crop gave seven more tetraploid instant rebloomers. The diploids just got more and more fancy in their fully rounded party skirts. Their ruffled edges just get better and better. Most will be given another year to prove their performance since they had two strikes against them with the move and the extreme temperatures. As time permits, one of a kind designs are being created by Judyannz Accessoriez. I prefer to do custom wardrobe matching, making one special piece for one special customer at a time.
