  About Me
For the moment, this will have to do.

I'm a transplanted Oregonian living in central Texas. Why Texas instead of Oregon, you ask? All of my children and two grown grandkids moved east of the Rockies so I thought I would too. One lives in Chicago....too cold and windy. One lives in Minnesota....too cold and too many mosquitos. That left the grandkids in Oklahoma, tornado alley! And one daughter in central Texas, not too bad a location in Texas.

So here I am, longing for the North West lovely deep blue greens, tall trees, cool nights in the summer and much more. But I'm within a holler from my middle daughter and nearly all live up and down Interstate 35. At least and at the minimalist a hard 21 hour drive to the furthest daughter.

I'm an artistic soul and have a wish for simpler times but making do with what life has thrown at me thus far.

Thanks for visiting my albums.

"I am not pouting, and I am certianly not indulging in self-pity... ..In fact, I am brooding. It's what artists do, we brood. To other, more active people, we appear selfish, obessive, even narcissistic, which is why we prefer to brood in private."

I love a good road trip:

copy and paste to catch us on our travels.

And I do love to travel, but 2400 miles is a long, long way

So what am I doing thinking of traveling 4000 miles a couple times a year?

To love what you do and feel that it matters - how could anything be more fun.

Now I know why I haven't been able to loose weight, get tired easy, have head aches.....Blood Tests say my Thyroid is way off. Whatch my weight get back to normal now!

It's been way too long

Keeping up with myself is very hard to do but I'm trying!
The beginning of 2008 hasn't started out too badly. I've managed to get myself to physical therapy at least once a week. I'm such a bad girl, I haven't been to the pool to do my water exercises since I started sewing and doing my exercises at home. Bad Girl! I must get my core muscles strong enough to drive my car to Oregon in May. Not alone, but with my middle daughter as traveling companion and trade off driver.

Do you know how far it is to anywhere from Texas? After I drove my car down here from Oregon I said I'd never do that again and here I am planning for that trip and the trip back to Texas in the fall. Well, at least I'll have wheels while I'm in Oregon and another great traveling companion on the way home. That would be my sister Sue....hopefully she won't want to stop at every fabric and yarn store we see along the way.

The best part of this first quarter of the year was a wonderful visit from my sister Sue, who introduced me to doll making. Wish I had gotten some photos while she was here. We spent most of the time shoping for doll fabric, and products that would help our new and budding hobby. I especially enjoyed the many yarn shops we went to. The time at home was spent going over books and online patterns and showing each other the things we had learned. One of her suitcases was packed at home with stuff to show me and both suitcases were packed and repacked with stuff she bought here to take home.

There is also the excitement of having a cousin (7 generations removed from a common ancestor) visiting our Pacific northwest family who emigrated from England to the US in the mid 1800s. He is visiting the three remaining members of my Mother's generation. Mom, being the oldest, is spry and well at 92 years of age and has been putting our genealogy together for many, many years. Cousin Bill is bringing what information he has on the ancient family. We will be pouring over names, dates and locations and doing a lot of traveling in Washington and Oregon for 10 days the latter part of May.

It's great to be busy and planning things and looking forward to the tomorrows.

I've no idea as to what I am doing, but I will do it in a grand style!!!

What a spring this year has been. With a 2,400 mile road trip with daughter Cathy to get my car and personal items needed to stay an undetermined amount of time with my Mother in Oregon. I'm not sure if I mentioned she fell and broke bones in both hands, one very badly. It is possible she will not be able to live alone anymore. But for 91 years of age, she has done incredibly well.

When we got to Oregon we met up with a cousin from England. If we go back seven generations we find a common ancestor. His side of the family stayed mostly near where they were born, with one exception to Australia. My side of the family came across the pond about 140 years ago. Meeting Cousin Bill in Oregon will be the first time since my ancestors left England that there has been a meeting of the two families.

We took Bill on several trips around the North West to meet family and see as much of our country as possible. We were almost to the Canadian boarder to see Grand Coulee Dam and up the Hood River Valley and around Mt. Hood. That was a long 3 day trip. We also took him to Cannon Beach and Astoria to see our coast line and where the Mighty Columbia River meets the sea. There were other short trips locally and a big family get together.

We all have a big crush on our Cousin from across the sea. As it stands right now he is coming back to visit this fall and I hope to travel to England sometime soon. We have formed a very beautiful relationship. This should be interesting.

The art work and dolls had to be put on hold until Bill left for England and Cathy left for Texas just days after he did. Mom is doing well and has the rods out of her left wrist and hand and we are fixing the house so it will work for both of us. I think it's rather marvelous that (in most cases) the Mothers and Daughters in my family get along amazingly well. Otherwise a 3,500 plus road trip would have been hell. Thanks Mom and Cathy for being such good sports.

So on to summer. One more week and I should be able to paint in the garage, sew in the small bedroom/office and work on Mom's memories on the desk top computer in my bedroom. Lots of unused and duplicated items taking up precious space in this small house will have gone to charity and my life here can begin

No I don't want any friends on picturetrail. I don't have time to make this page more than just me dumping off my pictures. Now I have to make a myspace page because I said yes to my Mom's page. You guys go be retired on some other space... I have to vacuum.
